Heck, I don't mind paying more for quality, I wish they would reconsider and start producing them again. I do own 2 of 'em now both are sllr's, one is a 1975 and the other one I'm not sure.

Darned if I know. There is so little information out there on the 9422 and what is there is confusing. I did a search on "Winchester 9422 history" and found that in 1972 Winchester offered a "Model 9422 XTR and Model 9422 XTR Classic". That may mean one had an uncheckered stock and the "Classic" was checkered, or maybe the other way …On Winchester 9422 a front sight of .450 is required. Can be fitted on most of the dovetails on the receivers of 22 rifles.
