It depends on your build and damage path. If you go for Melee Dmg%, Axe is arguably stronger than Fists, but if you go the Active Skill Dmg% route, then Fists will outdps Axe. My Corruption build does 12-16k on Melee attacks with Axe depending on buffs/debuffs. My Melee attacks with Fists never break 4k, regardless of buffs/debuffs.
