Feb 19, 2017 - So back in April last year I did the LS1 swap in my IS, and it run nice all summer long! Here a poor quality video of 1\\4mile run against a 2002 Corvette...Quick Summary * 2001 Lexus IS300 * LS3 6.2L V8 swap (same motor as the 2008-2013 Corvette for those not in the know). Bottom end had 50k miles at time of swap; heads were brand new. * Dyno’d @ 459hp/ 425ft lbs. Car was dyno’d with an aftermarket cam that has since been removed, however it is included in the sale.L. As most of you know I had done a 2003 IS300 1JZGTE VVTi with a Tomei turbo about 3 years ago you can find the build thread here. This was a lot of fun and had more plans for it but in Oct of 2019 I was rear ended at the race track.The link is https://goo.gl/HZsuY8. Many people who have done this swap use a third partie switch (is300) or they use the Altezzalink ecu (sxe10) to retain a/c. Especially if you live in an area where temps go past 33 celsius on a daily basis. I myself own a JDM sxe10 5at so I plan on using the Altezzalink.
My go to engine swap is the LS1/T56 combo found in the 1998-2002 Camaro and Trans Am. This combo is a common find on craigslist for $2800-$3500. The F-body wiring harness and front drive accessories provide the easiest solution for the is300 swap. The JZS171 ecu shares the same digital multiplex plug as the IS300 and the header plug is identical to the IS300 plugs that plug into the ecu. So with a bit of repinning at the plugs and some modification to certain areas of the IS300 harness, you can make this swap plug and play and run off of the 1JZ ecu. That's pretty difficult. Supposedly you can use the gs400 mounts, but theres still so much more problems you'll encounter and you'll have solve each and every one of them to make it run well. 2.
