Using stock backspacing, you can run both 275's and 285's with no lift and very minor to no rubbing. If you add wheel spacers, you are actually more likely to rub.

I have seen a thread on a T4R forum that a 275/70R17 will fit on other models with out any rubbing, so does the 1 inch lift on the PRO clear the way for the 285/70R17? A Teraflex Performance Leveling kit and some new shocks will eliminate rubbing altogether. I think I got a little over 2 inches in the front with mine, and between 1.5 and 2 inches in the rear. Here's some 285/70 R17 GY MT/R Kevlars on OEM 2013 Rubicon wheels with 1.5 inch Spidertrax spacers and no lift.You'll need to trim the exact same amount as anyone else running those tires who offroads. Suspension lifts don't gain you any "wheeling" clearance. Only street "ride height" clearance. Actually, 255/ 85 R16 is a 33" tire. 255/ 80 R16 and 255/75R17 are equivalent 32" tires. ….
